Unser Ziel ist es, die Lebensqualität für alle Einwohner und Besucher zu verbessern und gleichzeitig die Entstehung von Abgrenzung und Diskriminierung zu verhindern. Rethymno bietet ein breites Angebot an zugänglichen Urlaubs- und Freizeiteinrichtungen für Senioren und Reisende mit einer Behinderung.

Rethymno is famous for its city beach with 10 Blue Flags that certify the cleanness and precise management of the beach. The 12 km beach is safe and fully organized, watched by lifeguards, and accessible to people with any form of disability.
Additionally, Rethymno offers a wide variety of hotels available to people with special needs, seniors, and their families.
Last but not least the city of Rethymno allows a big number of athletics activities from simple beach sports to sports that have been developed for seniors and people with special needs.
Visiting Rethymno gives the opportunity to all visitors to walk or cycle around the beautiful Old Town, shop at the local market, and experience the traditional culture. The renovation of Agnostou Sqr, Mikrasiaton Sqr, and the Municipal garden with the new playground gives the opportunity to adults and children with special needs to visit and enjoy all the services and activities have to offer.
Furthermore, the redevelopment of the city gives the chance to all people with special needs to explore the well preserved historical center and the archaeological sites and museums which are open all year round.

Rethymno allots:
- Sichere und schöne Wanderwege von anderen Bereichen der Stadt, insbesondere mit öffentlichen Verkehrsmitteln und Bushaltestellen in der Nähe.
- Direkter Zugang zu fast allen öffentlichen, gemütlichen Plätzen, aber auch zu vielen privaten Räumen, wie Hotels und Restaurants, zeichnen sich durch das Fehlen von Hindernissen aus.
- Der Bau oder die Renovierung von öffentlichen Außenbereichen und Gebäuden geht auf die besonderen Bedürfnisse von Personen mit eingeschränkter Mobilität ein (Verbesserung der Gehwege, Steigungen, Vorhandensein von Rampen, Art der Pflasterung, Handläufe, Fußgängerüberwege) und berücksichtigt die Bedürfnisse von Menschen mit eingeschränkten sensorischen Fähigkeiten.
- Schaffung von Räumen, die zu Fuß oder mit dem Fahrrad leicht zu erreichen sind, durch ein dichtes Netz von attraktiven Fußgängerwegen
