Thematic guided tour and educational program
The Green Cultural Routes is a tour action, organized by the Ministry of Culture and Rethymno Archaeological department, the aim is to promote the sustainable development by educating paricipantas on the protection and promotion of both the natural environment and the cultural wealth of Rethymno.
On Sunday May 28th a thematic guided tour is planed through the temple of Panagia Keras near the settlement of Nefs Amari, restored by the Archaeological department.
The visit will include a ten-minute walk through the old olive grove of the valley of Amari.
After a short break and a treat offered by the Holy Metropolis of Lambis, at the Monastery of Asomaton, visitors will visit the frescoed church of Michael the Archangel at Monastiraki, the Minoan settlement of Monastiraki and end up at the early Christian basilica of Vizari.
The tour will be guided by a archaeologists from Rethymno Archaeological Society.
The transportation will be provided by bus of the KTEL.
Departure time is at 9.00 am from the eastern entrance of the Municipal Garden in front of the bus stop.
The event is free to the public. However, due to the limited number of seats on the bus, there will be a first come, first served basis.
