World Wine Tourism Day 2023 is a special event happening on

Sunday, November 12, in Crete

The celebration will take place at the Wineries of Crete.

On that day, 23 wineries from the Wine Roads of Crete, together with many others across Europe, are coming together for World Wine Tourism Day. They're inviting everyone to join in the fun.

When you visit these wineries, you can take a tour of the vineyards, meet the people who make the wine, enjoy the lovely vineyard views, see how the wine is made and aged, taste both new and aged wines, and learn about the fresh wines from this year's harvest.

Sunday, November 12, from 11 am to 5 pm. You can visit one or more wineries in Crete. You'll find all the details, on the official Wines of Crete website at  www.winesofcrete.gr.

Additionally, you can find restaurants that are part of the  'Bring Your Own Wine' campaign on the same website. If you buy wine from the winery, you can take it to one of these restaurants and enjoy it with your meal at no extra cost, as long as you show proof of purchase (you'll need to order food as well).  This offer is only valid on Sunday, November 12.

Here's a list of the wineries in Crete that are taking part:

  • Heraklion Prefecture:  Winery Aggelakis, Winery Alexakis, Winery Amargiotakis, Winery Silva - Daskalakis, Winery Digenakis, Winery DAF Wines Douloufakis Fereniki, Winery Union of Heraklion, Euphrosini Winery, Idaia Winery, Lyrarakis Winery, Menexe Estate, Boutari Winery - Scalarea Estate, Paterianaki Estate, Titaki Winery, Fragospito Winery, and Charalambaki Winery.
  • Prefecture of Chania:  Agia Triada Winery, Manousakis Winery, and Durakis Winery.
  • Prefecture of Rethymno:  Klados Winery,  Kourkoulou Winery, and  Zouberakis Winery.
  • Prefecture of Lassithi: Domaine Toplou.

City of Rethymno

You are invited to travel to areas, which are perhaps still unknown to the majority, and which are sometimes remote, but always magical and magnificent throughout the seasons. We recommend our visitors to see our picturesque villages through the eyes of the soul, try the Cretan cuisine, our wine and “tsikoudia”, participate in our revelries and festivities, but most importantly get to know our soul, our hospitality, the safe, untouched interior of the region, the other Rethymno.
