Experience a blend of installations, 16mm film projections, digital visuals, sculptural elements, and live performances.

The artists draw inspiration from Rethymno's rich cultural tapestry, incorporating sounds from bustling streets, crashing waves, and the dynamic interactions of locals and visitors.

This event is part of the International Symposium Polarities, organized by the AAS Painting Laboratory at the AAS Art Station in Rethymno. The Polarities group explores creative collaboration between artists from different hemispheres, examining "polarity" in various contexts.

Previous Polarities events have been showcased at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Santiago (Chile), the Sound/Image 2023 Festival at the University of Greenwich in London, and the Iris Theatre in Athens.

"Summer Polarities Rethymno" is proudly supported by the Museum of Contemporary Art of Crete - Municipal Gallery "L. Kanakakis" and is under the auspices of the Municipality of Rethymno.

City of Rethymno

You are invited to travel to areas, which are perhaps still unknown to the majority, and which are sometimes remote, but always magical and magnificent throughout the seasons. We recommend our visitors to see our picturesque villages through the eyes of the soul, try the Cretan cuisine, our wine and “tsikoudia”, participate in our revelries and festivities, but most importantly get to know our soul, our hospitality, the safe, untouched interior of the region, the other Rethymno.
