Thursday, November 7, 2024
Begin your historical journey through Rethymno with a meaningful morning at Perivolia at 11:00, where student ceremonies honor local heroes at Captain Pachla's Memorial.
Follow the commemorations to the Four Martyrs Square at 11:00, then head to the beautiful village of Margarites at 10:00, famous for its pottery and the birthplace of heroic Abbot Gabriel Marinakis.
While in Margarites, visit local pottery workshops and enjoy traditional Cretan lunch at family tavernas. In the afternoon, join the ceremonies in Amnato and Adele villages, ending with a traditional feast at the Kostis Giamboudakis Cultural Centre.
Take time between ceremonies to explore these villages' narrow streets, taste fresh local dishes at small tavernas, and if you are lucky enough watch the fall harvest olive activities.

End your day with dinner at a nearby village taverna, where you can taste seasonal Cretan dishes and fresh wine.
