The Art Festival 2023 is hosting an art exhibition called "The Road to the Pavilion" featuring modern Greek artists. It will be held from  November 8th to November 22nd at the House of Culture, and the exhibition space will be open from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM.

The festival has the theme "Threshold II"  and is supported by the Municipality of Rethymno.

The exhibition explores the idea of overcoming obstacles, focusing on the individual and the things that obstruct progress. These obstacles can be physical, mental, or emotional, and they include objects, walls, thoughts, fears, and more. The goal is to examine and understand fragments of one's psyche and subconscious.

The festival's general theme is "Threshold II," and the exhibition is curated by the professor of the  3rd workshop of the School of Fine Arts at the University of Western Macedonia, Haris Kontosfiri. He plays a crucial role in shaping the artistic vision of the event.

The participating artists include:

Aphrodite Grizi
Eleni Dalaka
Maria Diamantopoulou
Chrysa Diamantopoulou
Katerina Karoulia
Haris Kontosfyris
Florentia Papadimitriou
Giorgos Pantazis
Chrysoula Skepetzi

The artists symbolize this journey as a shared space for animals and plants, where humans explore their inner world. Memories from the unconscious mind are often distorted, creating a unique perspective on reality. This exhibition showcases the coexistence of various mental states and phenomena, providing a glimpse into the complexity of the human mind.

City of Rethymno

You are invited to travel to areas, which are perhaps still unknown to the majority, and which are sometimes remote, but always magical and magnificent throughout the seasons. We recommend our visitors to see our picturesque villages through the eyes of the soul, try the Cretan cuisine, our wine and “tsikoudia”, participate in our revelries and festivities, but most importantly get to know our soul, our hospitality, the safe, untouched interior of the region, the other Rethymno.
