"The Song at the Beginning of the Universe" event

Throughout history, every civilization has created myths to explain the beginning of the Universe.

But modern civilization is the only one that can support its story about the early Universe with lots of scientific data. For the first time, many theories about the origins of the Cosmos have been confirmed through the scientific method. This fascinating modern myth about how the Universe began will be shared by Cretan scientists and artists.

The event "The Song at the Beginning of the Universe" will take place on Monday evening, June 17th at 8:30 pm at the Erofili Theatre in Fortezza, Rethymno.

Rafael Skalidis, who studied at the University of Crete and now does research at the prestigious Caltech University as a NASA fellow, will explain the scientific context of our modern cosmogony theory. He will vividly describe what we know about the beginning of the Cosmos, how we know it, and what mysteries remain.

Then, the musician Yagos Chretis from Anogia, along with astrophysicists Vasso Pavlidou and Kostas Tassis from the University of Crete and the Institute of Astrophysics, will analyze the beginning of the Cosmos as a myth. Although based on facts and the search for truth, they will present it as a narrative myth with sounds inspired by ancient Cretan traditions.

This unique event combines science and art to share the modern scientific understanding of how the Universe began, presented in a mythological storytelling style rooted in Crete's cultural heritage. It offers a fascinating way to learn about the origins of our Cosmos.
