Save the date for Rethymno Carnival 2023

Rethymno is excited to organize once again the Carnival and is going to Carnival mood.
Rethymno Carnival festivities are returning to Rethymno, from January through February 26. There are plenty of ways that locals and guests are once again able to celebrate the famous Cretan carnival this year.
Rethymno Carnival 2023 looks promising as it is one of the biggest cultural winter events in Rethymno and all over Crete. Everyone is looking forward to and waiting to participate in this year's festivities, after three years of absence. Carnival's main parade will be held on Sunday 26 February 2023.
In this week's kick-off meeting, a total of 16 out of 37, about half of them which have already registered for participating, will use the costumes of 2020, when the carnival was canceled due to coronavirus, just two days before the main parade. Most of the carnival participants have decided that they will order new costumes, estimating that their members will either not want to wear the old ones or the children will not be able to wear them anymore, having grown up! Most of the customs and floats are made of recyclable material.
Guests also can best enjoy all the food and cocktail options with many parties organized all over Rethymno. Carnival-inspired culinary offerings are served at many tavernas and restaurants in the city. Guests will be able to feast with live music and festive fanfare of costume performers that bring the celebration of Carnival 2023 to life.
The Carnival Committee invites the citizens of Rethymno and all carnival enthusiasts from all over the world to enjoy Rethymno’s Carnival comeback.
