annual celebrations  for the battle of Crete

Due to the Corona virus pandemic all the official annual celebrations  for the 79 years since the 1941 battle of Crete have been cancelled in 
line with the instructions of the Ministry of Civil Protection of the  Greek Government.

Every year many war veterans of the battle and their family members  from British, Australia and New Zealand return to Crete to take part in the 
celebrations of this historical event.

In commemoration of the battle of Crete and as minimum respect and  honour as deserved to all those who died, a doxology service and a 
wreath - laying ceremony will be held on Sunday 24th May 2020 at the  Rethymno police academy headquarters in the strict presence of 
Officials only.
