Vamos Orchestra - 3 ACTS

The Vamos Orchestra Season 2024 kicks off in Rethymno with the concert IN 3 ACTS - A selection of famous arias and songs from the Music Theatre,
which draws inspiration from and combines various, diverse, popular, and beloved musical genres: opera & operetta, musical, music hall!

On  Monday, 29th of July, 2024, at 21:30 at the Erofili Theatre  in the Venetian Fortezza fortress of Rethymno, Crete, we celebrate the connection of music
with theatrical speech and stage action, in a different style, manner, and rhythm.

Songs, solo arias, and duets linked with the most beloved moments of stage music from the three sections of this unique performance inspired by theater
and the power of the most intense emotions when expressed through music!

Selected arias, dynamic duets, and light ariettas from the famous musicals of Leonard Bernstein ("West Side Story", 1957), Andrew Lloyd Webber ("Cats",
1981), Richard Rodgers ("The Sound of Music", 1959), Cy Coleman ("Sweet Charity", 1966), and John Kander ("Cabaret", 1966) pass the baton to Dimitris
Maramis' "Erotokritos" and the songs of Greek revue by Giorgos Mouzakis ("Raise the Anchors", 1950), Yannis Konstantinidis ("The Bonbonniere", 1927), Stamatis Kraounakis ("In the Constellation of Medusa", 1984), Dionysis Savvopoulos ("Acharnians", 1977), as well as famous arias from the operas of Georges Bizet ("Carmen", 1875), Giacomo Puccini ("Gianni Schicchi", 1918), and the operettas of Theofrastos Sakellaridis ("The Godson", 1918; "I Want to
See the Pope", 1920, etc.).

The works are vocally performed by soprano Effie Papadopoulou,  Alexia Katsanevaki, and Prodromos Karadeloglou, while the new orchestrations for Vamos Orchestra are signed by Thanasis Papathanassiou, who also conducts the orchestra.
