Music and Dance event - Sing Agalina
A Special music and dance performance that celebrates healthy aging and the improvement of quality of life.
Tuesday, May 28th at 8pm in Mikrasiaton Square
This event is co-organized by the Social Department of the Municipality of Rethymno and the Theatrical and Music Workshop of the University of Crete .
The cultural event, titled "I Will Sing Agalina," honors the traditional singer Chronis Aidonidis from Thrace, who contributed into promote Greek traditional singing internationally.
The evening begins with Dr. Eleftherios Vouzounerakis speaking about "Quality of Life as Motivation for Health and Well-Being in Daily Life."
After, there will be performances of traditional songs and dances from the Region of Thrace.
The musicians are Dimos Papatzalakis (singing), Nikos Aggousis (clarinet), and Panagiotis Sakkoulas (lute).
They will be joined by a large group playing percussion, including participants from the "Art of Rhythm in Education - Music in the Community" program, coordinated by musicians Giannis Papatzanis and Anthi Fourki.
Traditional Thracian dances will be performed by members of the Open Care Center for the Elderly and the Lyceum of Greek Women.
